Benign Tumors of the Stomach

Benign tumors of the stomach, though of more infrequent occurrence than malignant growths of that organ, are sufficiently common to warrant attention. In recent years an extensive literature has accumulated on their incidence, pathological and clinical features, and roentgen diagnosis. They are frequently confused clinically with malignant and inflammatory lesions, and may give rise to complications which demand immediate surgical intervention. It is the purpose of this paper to review briefly the literature and to present the clinical and pathological features of 50 benign tumors of the stomach recorded in the Johns Hopkins Hospital from 1889 to the present day.
